on the ball.

that's what I am. see?

yeah, those are from last night. we're 4-0, baby! and I hit REALLY REALLY REALLY well. (despite the fact that my stance here looks miiiiiiserable, except I actually blame that on how slow slow slow the ball is coming--I mean, goodness, I knocked one right down the third base line, that's how ahead of the ball I am) and I've got to say, that picture of me catching--hilarious! it's kind of scary playing that position and not having a mask on. except we'd get the cheap mask where you can't see anything. plus I refuse to do that whole rip-the-mask-off-my-face thing like I used to. it just isn't cool unless you're sporting shin-guards and a breastplate thingie and wielding the catchers-glove-o'-doom. :)

and here's the group at amante's--you'll notice that i'm the only girl. they were amused by this. however, I'm also the one who brought the beer!

also, operation: make lists for tulsa is in full swing. i'm going crazy with the listage. i'll take pictures of cute ones, I knooooow you'll love looking at that.

happy weekends and too-da-loos for all.

also, I am addicted to eating this:

and i've really been enjoying eating these foods. I'm glad they're all healthy.

also, sorry if I just made you hungry. :)

this is how a nerd gushes. and babbles. and thinks.

okay, i'm a nerd. but i think this is damn cool. it's part the humanitarian in me. and part the chemical engineer. and part the inventor. and part the former wastewater employee. but i dig it. like a ditch.

also, sad news for nerds everywhere, no more mr. wizard. he's gone to that great big science lab in the sky. :(

I'm starting to really really think about what all it is that I need to bring with me to t-town. I think I'm going to have an embarrassing amount of luggage. But then again, I will be there for nine days, so that's not toooooooo bad if I have kind of a lot, right? I am also nervous about seeing my grandparents. Despite the 6 inch diameter-of-an-apple size tumor my granny has they won't operate until July 2nd, the day AFTER I leave. poor granny.

also, this will show you what a nerd I am--I was quite excited to find that Mattie, my mazda 3, rolled to 33333. Like, so excited I noticed about 27 miles before it happened and waited so I could take a picture. 'cause, y'know, she's a mazda 3. did I mention I love my car? yep, I sure do. also, kinda weird that i've shown you my dashboard twice in such a little time.

tomorrow I am doing something I've never done before--I am participating in a set-up. it is with my friend susan and my co-workers/cube-neighbor's cousin's fiancee's friend ted. I promise it's less complicated than that sentence suggests. we're going to the mellow mushroom and then bowling. I apologized to matt 'cause I realized that we keep.going.to.these.places--this is our fourth time going to the mellow mushroom and also our fourth time going bowling. or is it fifth? I think just fourth. but anyway, he was just "well, it has been almost three months and really? that's not a bad average."

and every time he talks about atlantic city I get more excited about going. people keep telling me I should be nervous, but I'm not, even a little. I get to meet his family, and I get to meet his friend little brother Mario, and I'm going to take pictures in PA too, and I just can't wait. but one trip at a time, carrie. one trip at a time.

this dress? cuteness. i can't wait for it to arrive. sterling helped me pick it out.

oh, and I haven't been blogging 'cause work is running me ragged. and then I have softball. or choir. but I found time today. :)

and thank the good lord in heaven, tomorrow is friday, glorious friday.

down to single digits.

it.
is.
almost.
tulsa.
time.
get.
excited!

I am soooooo looking forward to going to Tulsa. I love it that when I visit it's a whirlwind of activity. like, really really love. So far? (in an order that suits my fancy, but isn't indicative of importance): two weddings, a party, a fancy dinner, a night on the town, a kaydee reunion, some visiting with some high school friends, shopping, woolaroc, missouri, kansas and arkansas, my family, big al's and mazzios and chimi's. I'm sure I'll find time for zio's, too. Ooh, and hobby lobby. And blue bell. And mmmmmmmmm.

thank goodness for this thing to look forward to, else I just might lose my head. work is mkaing me INSANE. like in the membrane, insane in the brain. it's just crazy-ass busy. and today I'll be here until at least seven, maybe later, doing this plating thingie. and i'm not happy about that one.

yesterday wasn't particularly good either. oh, parts were good--sushi with kara, matt coming to my softball game, the really good hit I got, but then? I discovered that both my earring (the hoop I wear in the cartilage of my left ear that no one really sees but I love anyway) and my tickets to the avett brothers show were nowhere to be found. So I went to walmart to get another hoop, and the jewelry counter was closed. This morning stubborn Carrie went to target to try to buy a replacement, only to find target was out, so I had to go to wally world AGAIN. oh, and did I mention I pretty much tore my apartment apart looking for the tickets? at least the people at the box office kindly let me know I could bring in my confirmation email and they'd take care of it that night--yeesh!

also, today, for the first time, i had new...well...answers.com says it's a veggie. my friend and softball cohort johannes made a rhubarb pie last night and brought me a piece. it was very yummy, and he's totally right. it must be eaten outside. it kind of tasted like a cherry pie, but different. and it seems i'm not allergic--yay!

and a request: please try to work the following phrase into your day "fancy meeting you here!" it's quite fun to say. I got to say it today (in jest) and it made me want to use it more often. :)

ps: i am still enjoying my hair. it is so friggin gloriously quick in the morning--spectacular! and I got to wear it in little tiny low pigtails last night, and it was CUTE and I didn't look like I was trying--y'know, 'cause when you're twenty-six and wearing pigtails it often looks just like that. yay for fun easy-to-style bouncy hair!

bara bap bara ra ra bara bap bara ra ra ra...

~the fratellis

soooo.
my hair? is le chopped off.

friday night was a bowling-fun double date with mary alise and michael. i bowled some terrrrrrible games, yeesh. it took until the FOURTH game for me to get a strike. for reals, that's miserable for me. props to Mary Alise though--she did AWESOME, I'm proud of her. and? overall, we tied.

saturday was bizzzzy.

first, the kaydee baby shower for our dear audrey. deb's apartment is geeeorgeous. and we had SO MUCH FUN. it's a pity that my camera died, but frances was there to save the day. :) aren't we cute?

next, after taking misty home i went to the mall. and I left feeling like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders--because it HAD. here I am with the ponytail off--loree cut it a little shorter since the length didn't really matter.

and here's the finished result. i lurrrve it.

then marla and I went shop-shop-shopping. and I bought all sorts of cuteness. and apparently? I'm on a yellow kick. I wanted to buy yellow EVERYTHING, it was kind of over the top. she was so cute though-- every time I was all bouncy with my hair or played with it she gushed. it made my day. and? she encouraged me to buy some cutecutecute shorts, and we found her a hat!

then (and yes, we're STILL on Saturday) Matt and I enjoyed some beer pong. and some time at lucky b's/around the corner. and it was fun. 'cept for the part where I tried to give chris some lady-advice, and matt and chris thought i was bonkers. oh well. i still say I'm at least on the right track. but whatever...i mean, i AM the one that has girl parts, you'd think that would give me credibility!

oh AND it pee-oh-you-are-ee-dee last night. matt and i got SOAKED on our way into bob's apartment. which was, i'm going to guess, ten or twelve steps. good lord.

also, today I bring you another corner of my home--my patio. you saw it featured last year, on this very weekend as a matter of fact, but this time it's even better. today, after brunch at the cracker barrel (or crackel barrel, as matt likes to call it), watching Stormbreaker and going to my church picnic (where some people didn't recognize me at first 'cause of my hair!) I potted. and planted. and arranged my christmas lights outside. pretty, no? i have lots and lots and lots of plants. i may have to make tomato deliveries. and I CANNOT WAIT to make a pizza using my home-grown basil, spinach and tomatoes. it will be yummy. maybe you can come over and enjoy it with me.

and, please stop what you're doing, take your hands away from that mouse/keyboard and give good ol' carrie a little clappity-clap. because it seems she has FINALLY outsmarted her computer and managed to make a DVD burn correctly. I'm going to really really be able to back up all my photos, it's amazing.

alright, bedtime now. hope your weekend was as fun as mine!

one more thing: I never pass up the opportunity to make a pun if I can help it. sometimes in public i let them go, but if it's on my blog? it's fair game. consider this your fair warning. :) (and turner, I mean you, too!)

hair today, gone tomorrow.

so, I make it, what--ten days?--with my brilliant plan.

tomorrow I am getting my hair chopped off. yes, for reals. it's about that time--it's been more than three years since my hair was shorty mac, and I feel the need.

so here's the skinny:

yesterday I'm reading about locks of love. on tuesday while rocking some softball action I kept thinking about how hot my hair was--even just the ponytail on the back of my neck was killer in the 530 June heat of north cack. and i read again about the requirements. and I saw it...no bleached hair.

now, I'd noticed this before, but I was like, my hair's darker, I've never bleached it... au, contraire, mon ami. my hair is darker because I now darken it 'cause I used to highlight it, and know what highlighting is, kids?

bleach.

I read up some more, and it's unfortunately true. they don't use highlighted/bleached hair in wigs at locks of love. So.

1. I don't have to have 10 inches to donate now.
2. I checked with Jessica to make sure that me having short hair at her wedding won't make her wig out (good pun, no?)
3. I'm just going to cut off what I feel like, get a kicky bob and donate the ponytail to locks of love so they can sell it.

and then my neck and head will be hap-hap-happy. And I won't have to deal with having hair so long that sometimes the pieces get stuck in my armpit. And I will still get to help a charity.

and this pleases me.
immensely.

:D

so, here's what i'm thinking...something a little like this. I like the length but I have have HAVE to be able to tuck the pieces behind my ear.

now I'm just going to think about what I'll do with it when I play sports. Maybe rock the 'do in a little-girl-two-ponytail-type fashion? maybe indeed...

mama said there'll be days like this, there'll be days like this my mama said

(mama said, mama said)
~the shirelles

and she was right.

there are a crazy amount of things going on right now.

some good.
some bad.
some sweet.
some sour.

and then the ones that don't fit anywhere.

briefly, I will begin with the not-so-happy.

my grandparents are unwell. again. both at the same time. my grandfather fell and broke his femur and his ankle and who knows what else, and either popped his un-popable fake hip out or broke something in his hip, the details are fuzzy. what i do know is that if they operate on him he will not survive, his heart can't make it. so they're going to try to use the wedge of the bed to set his leg.

and then my granny? she has a six inch long tumor in her color. about the diameter of an apple. she had a blood transfusion just a week and half ago because she was severely anemic, and they believe the two are related.

this is one of those times when I wish I lived closer to tulsa. i'm glad i'm going there soon.

if you're the praying type, prayers would be appreciated.

next up, my job is making me insane. there's a communication disconnect, and today my project director explained to me the following: if you have a solution and a precipitate forms in it, you've lowered the concentration of the solute in the solution. people, I have a DEGREE IN CHEMICAL ENGINEERING. you learn this shit in high school, if not before. I almost yelled at him. I had to clench my teeth to stop myself. It wasn't pretty, and I'm rather certain I might have been able to kill someone just by looking at them in that moment. I was steaming angry. I'm a lot cooled off now.

okay, so that's the bad. here's some good.

for some reason I actually thought this was pretty cool. i got in my car this morning, started it and found this little guy just hanging out on my dashboard. i guess they just make webs proportional to their size? i rescued him and put him outside.

today i also bought a ticket for my atlantic city trip. i am so so so excited to go. it will be so much fun to meet matt's family. (I don't think I told you before but that's why I'm going!)

oh and? my license plate came yesterday. don't you know I put it on IMMEDIATELY! I am a little bummed though--I thought it was going to be in blue writing. I may actually call, 'cause I'm afraid the kaydee frame makes it look a little Christmasy. Mattie likes it though. :)

also, softball was rock-tastic last night. we're now really truly top o' the league, and it RULES. like, we're 3-0, we're beating our record from last year even if we lose all the rest, and I was named as an MVP again! yay for nick and me! (we're co-mvps--again!) I got on base both times I hit, they were both good hits, I caught a pop fly AND Nick and I had some good plays at second. that was woooooooonderful.

i'm feeling a little better already...off to finish my lab stuff then choir!

the early bird catches the biggest worm, the early bird catches the biggest worm, bring on the cow, bring on the cow, c'mon mama and bring on the cow!

okay, so that's a nice little recollection from being in the travel troupe of EHS. just roll with it, okay?

the reason I thought of it is this: oh dearie, let me give you a rundown of the last, oh, twelve hours of my life.

12:45 AM finally, finally go to sleep. I'm such a night owl. and i always start projects too late!
4:05 AM wake up, look at the alarm clock, pull another blanket over me, go back to sleep.
6:00 AM wake up. be very very awake. try to go back to sleep. get pissed about having another hour and a half to sleep but being awake. snuggle with the kitties.
6:15 AM snuggle with the kitties some more.
6:30 AM gah! I still have another hour to sleep. contemplate getting up. decide to try to go back to sleep.
6:52 AM decide to just get the hell out of bed, it's not like I'm sleeping anyway. get in shower.
time passes slowly, as I'm moving at roughly the same rate as molasses coming out of a jar.
7:40 AM after showering, eating breakfast, getting dressed, checking the weather and my email, etc., realize that if I show up at work at 8am people just might have a heart attack. so instead, I decide I'll get to work at 9am, and inbetween...

I WILL CLEAN.

for reals, people. I put away my multitude of baskets of laundry. I went through clothes in my closet and decided that I no longer needed them. I re-arranged my clothes so I could more easily reach the ones I wear more often (putting the dress pants in the back). I sorted. I sifted. I organized. All before 830AM.

what is the matter with me? and how do I make this maintain a normal level instead of going in fits and starts, mmmmm?

I realized, too, that I have all of these dress clothes from my old job, and I need to just get rid of 'em. A lot of 'em are suuuuuper small. Like things that are size 2 or XS, and there's no way in hell they're ever going to fit me again. (which I am totally okay with) Thing is though, they're kind of nice, and I don't exactly want to just part with 'em. I'd like to get back a bit of my investment. And I'm *thinking* about selling 'em for cheap on ebay.

I know Corrie had some luck with it--but is it worth the trouble? Will people really buy the clothes? A lot of it is JCrew and Gap and a couple things are United Colors. And they're in good shape. Opinions/input/advice if I do choose to try the ebay route? I know it'll take a little time, but every five dollars counts, right? And I won't be eligible for any tax deductions since I don't have enough other write-offs...

hmm.

cleaning and ebay. all before noon. what would my mother say?!? she'd prolly ask if I was feeling alright, that's what.

yeesh.

also, goal for self: finish application to NCState before going to Oklahoma. We'll see if it'll really happen or not, but that's what I'm'a'gonna shoot fer.

yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me.

um, or a gambler's. or that of an obsessive-nose-blower. whatev.

yesterday was poker at kim's. it was fun. i came in second when I finally gave in--I just went all in despite having nothing in my hand, 'cause now I was fighting to either get my mulah back or get the pot, and everyone was having to watch kevin and me duke it out. it was really really fun (despite my unhappy nose) and kim was great--she even got me my own special trash can for the copious amount of tissues I used. I ran through my travel pack and she even had more for me--with lotion. yay!

the only bad part was from, oh let's say 2-4 am, when I didn't sleep. I read for a while. I tossed for a while. I turned for a while. I petted gobi and hazel for a while. I text messaged sterling for a while. I broke down and took a benadryl at 245 am. and FINALLY fell asleep by 4.

church was fun. I LOVE science. In church. It rules. Today my pastor talked about titration, and how there's that point where the solution changes color, and how sometimes life it like that--that there's this moment, and everything changes. and there's no going back.

matt and I also talked about science during pirates 3 today. they're rocking the boat, and darn it, they're doing it WRONG. didn't any of you movie people study physics? yeesh. he and I both were like "wtf?!?" yeah. overall, didnt like it so much. seemed like a money-making scheme to me. but as matt pointed out, girls will pay money to see orlando bloom and johnny depp in eyeliner.

oh, and? going to atlantic city in july. yay!!!! this trip is something I'm suuuuuper excited about. extra super.

in addition to the super-extra-good-qualities of the trip in and of itself, I'm also happy because, in less than a month I will add five states to my list of photos--Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. This pleases me IMMENSELY. Especially because I totally plan on visiting Massachusetts in October with my Aunt, and I plan on going to Hawaii within the next year to see the Merritts, and I'll be going to Alabama next May, and maybe when I go visit Mary Alise I can scoot over to West Virginia since it's an hour and change away. This means that in the next year I could easily knock out nine or more states. yaaaay! it's nice to see that this is really a possibility!

oh and speaking of photos, I added more. go check 'em out. and thanks to brooke for the shout-out!

here's to ka sounds and suck glasses

well done, ladies. they crack me up. i like girls nights. eff-you-en.

know what I don't like, though? this kid.

damn allergies. nobody nose the trouble I've seen. ha!

I keep trying to think of a cute way to carry around a box of kleenex--like by taking said box and securing ribbon around it and making a little purse-type-strap so it's mobile. a kleenex satchel. maybe I should use a baby bjorn for my kleenex. and thank goodness for aquaphor.

other fun things:
1. jackie got a job (hooray!)
2. I got my money back in poker (I didn't feel like fighting for it with kevin), yay for kim and stefan for hosting!
3. I'm almost done with my book.
4. guess makes a shoe called "carrie"--might have to watch for these to go on sale. but what color, eh? ps, I already have pink heels.
5. My new apartmentmate was approved by the complex. this means I won't have to move until at least october 2008. this makes carrie very happy.
6. y'all voted, thanks. ps? it means I'm right. :D
7. it's 11:11, and I just made a wish.

alright, time for my date now. it's with Mr. Bubble. hopefully it will make my nose feel alllllll better. only time will tell. also? anyone wanna write me a prescription? 'cause I'm totally taking my *expired* allergy meds 'cause my doctor didn't call a new prescription in on friday. they're working though, just not quite as potent. oh well.

night night.

and a vote...

because quite frankly, I think there's some kind of a where-you're-from thing going on here...so, let us know--growing up, did you say something was...

you've got to be joking or surely you jest

so, a girl walks up to a drink vending machine. she's in a *healthy* mood, so she opts for a bottle of water instead of soda. she's just had to walk upstairs though, 'cause the downstairs vending machine didn't sell water. (wtf?!?)

anyhoo, so she puts her sixty five cents into the machine, hits the dasani button and out comes...

this kid.

what the hell?

(ps, notice reno the cute from LA hanging out in the background). but so, lemme get this straight. it is MORE EXPENSIVE PER OUNCE to buy water than soda. like an entire penny. which just blows my mind. why, praytell, is the WATER more expensive than SODA? why why why? ugh.

it makes me think of the time when I was, oh, let's go with nine. and I wanted to buy paper for school. (you know how I love school supplies) and I wanted to buy recycled paper, 'cause it's all environmentally friendly or whatever.

'cept for the exact same price you could get 120 sheets of regular paper or 80 sheets of recycled. even my hippie mother pointed out that the 120 was the way to go.

so little carita (that's what my mom calls me) wrote good ol' mead a letter, suggesting that they amend their practices and make the recycled paper at least EQUAL to the regular paper in price. couldn't they do something? and who did they think they were fooling, anyway, with that HUGE difference in prices. people READ labels, mr. folks-from-mead. you ain't foolin' nobody.

and off my letter went, via the pony express.

know what they sent me? samples of their various regular non-recycled papers, and a brochure on recycling. goodness me.

also, I'm a letter-writer, if you didn't know. and a complainer, when appropriate. so don't cross me or try to fool me, or you just might find out that my pen is pretty gosh darn mighty, mmm? speaking of pens, but of the un-mighty type, i'm also quite fond of mailing in pens that don't perform properly. perhaps I'm insane. but I don't really think so...

on the bright side? the 10.1 ounce bottle has meant that I've walked to the water fountain a lot today. which is good. especially since the rugby soreness is hitting me hard today. owie.

oh and. know what I luuuurve about the spring/summer? fresh fresh fresh produce. at lunch today I had carrots, cherry tomatoes and red bell pepper slices, and I just finished a berry good snack of strawberries, raspberries and blueberries. mmm mmmm mmmm I looooove fruit.

only an hour and a half 'til kd girl time with mexican food and beer/margaritas. i'm looking forward to it, fo shizzle.

happy almost weekend, loves.

she's the second best killer that I have ever seen

~the fratellis

so, see this ball? this one?

yeah, we played with some of those last night. and not to toot my own horn or anything, but I really did surprisingly well.

oh, I was in the group of three that needed the extra practice with the passing. and physically I didn't have the endurance of the other girls. I did, however, have the speed. and then some.

but I gotta say, the most fun part? we were scrimmaging, six on six, playing touch. and the coach (brushee) was in my "lane" on the opposing team, which means he was guarding me, sorta (unless I moved out of line, but whatever).

anyhoodle, we're on our ten or fifteen meter line, so the other team is superclose to their goal, but we've got possession. so the girl on my left (AB or Vicky, not sure which it was) passed me the ball, and with it in my hand I somehow managed to get past brushee and sprint all the way down the field (which is 100 meters long) and woulda scored except there was this rule about all your players being in the twenty-two. but anyway, the important part is I got by the coach and hauled ass to the goal all by my little self the first day I ever played rugby.

let me tell you, the rest of my showing wasn't so spectacular. but that? that felt good.

and, it felt pretty awesome too when the girlies kept saying "are you sure this is the first time you've played rugby?" and "you're really good at this" and "we didn't look anything close to this good the first time we played."

:D

that's the field. there's A LOT of lingo. A LOT. and only throwing the ball backwards? just plain weird.

it's a hell of a workout though. an hour and a half of running/sprinting/jogging/moving. kinda kicked my ass. like a lot. if I keep this up I might have to break my rule--y'know, the one about not running unless there's a ball involved? I'll die if I keep running like this and only do it twice a week. I mean, softball is good exercise, buuuuuut...not that good.

I told 'em I wanted to come to a few more practices to decide if rugby was for me. I'm not sure about the whole hitting part. I kind of like my teeth and I don't want any broken bones. So we'll see.

also, I figured out some things that seem to run in my kaydee family. y'see, I talked to my Itsy yesterday. and apparently playing crazy violent sports does. and being perspicacious. and being honest and it being okay. and drinking, sometimes to excess. and know what? I like it. :)

i am really really really looking forward to rockin out in t-town very very soon. it's shaping up to be quite the faboo trip, peeps.

twenty two point eight six

centimeters, that is.

that's the length of my ponytail right now. nine inches. one more inch to go. and then I can cut it off and resume having a much more manageable length of hair. and I like that.

I'll wait until after Jessica's wedding, and I may have to wait until sometime in July or early August to actually hit that ten inch mark. but then? it's all going away. don't worry, I'll still have *some* hair left. it'll be to my chin at least. but I am soooo close.

any ideas for how to be patient?

yeesh.

today I will be *attempting* to play rugby. I'll let you know how it goes. Hopefully I return with all of my teeth and appendages intact. we shall see...

Monday, May 28, 2007

sometimes.

I get this feeling in my gut.

sometimes it tells me everything is gonna be okay.
or that things are going to turn out how I want them to.
or that I can just relax and be cool and let things go how they should.

and I like it.

also, I like the fratelli's new cd A LOT. like, I listened to it twice on sunday and three times today. for reals. I kinda spent a good bit of my time in the car or with a stereo. yippee skippy.

oh and? totally a soprano. need to do a little strengthening and stuff, but really? totally a soprano. just you wait. :)

(had a voice lesson today, by the by)

and? this is panning out to be a good summer. we'll see how it all goes, but that's what it's lookin' like. and it makes me joyous. yay!

Sunday, May 27, 2007

i love it.

i love weekends. especially long ones.

and i love beer. and laughing. and boys who scratch your back ever-so-gently while you sit side-by-side. and being really honest.

i love doing random new things. like nascar last year. and watching the ufc match last night.

and i love seeing my friends. it was wonderful to see the wards and the turleys on friday, AND to get to see betsy and terry and all then too.

i love my church. 'cause of words like this:

last week's, "kissing the boo-boo doesn't make the pain go away, it makes the loneliness go away."
and today, talking about how it was the church's birthday, and how maybe there was all this goodness and it was placed in every person, and interacting with each other is a way to perpetuate the goodness.

and we sang all things bright and beautiful, and i love that song too.

i love gardening. (i planted cherry tomatoes, more basil, jalepenos and the spinach and mesclun today)

i love good conversations.

and new cds. like this and this and this. and the ones I ordered from amazon, too. more fun music suggestions when I get 'em.

and the way gobi chases spiders.

and flip flops.

and scrabulous.

and the secret life of bees.

and relative nerdiness, eh eddie and sterling?

and cherries and hawaiian bread and gouda cheese. mmm-mmmm-mm! one of my very favorite things ev-a is to take two ziplock baggies into a movie theater--one full of cherries, one empty. and then I eat the cherries and put the pits in the other bag. seriously, it makes me gllleeeeeful! you should try it, you'll like it, methinks.

and know what? if you're reading this? bet i love you, too. kisses. :)

i know a place...

y'know how sometimes songs pop into your head, ones that you haven't thought about for years and years? and you find you still know the words?

this one did just that. hellllllo, camp tallchief? this is carrie calling. she spent lotsa lotsa hours with you, mmm-hmm.

i know a place where no one ever goes
there’s peace and quiet, beauty and repose
it’s hidden in a valley beside a mountain stream
and lying there beside that stream
i find that i can dream
only of things of beauty to the eyes;
snow-capped mountains towering towards the sky.
now I know that god made this world for me
one can imagine himself as in a dream
climbing up a mountain or down a small ravine
the magic of the peace and quiet always shall stay
to make this place a haven every day
oh how I wish I never had to leave
then all my life such beauty to receive
now I know that god had made this place for me
sitting in silence beside that mountain stream
i thank god for the beauty of my dream
the friendships i have made here the joys that have been mine
the chance for love and caring 'neath the tall straight pine
oh how i wish i never had to leave
then all my life such beauty to recieve
now i know that god has made this world for me.

mattie's got a new pair of shoes.

okay, well, now all of Mattie's tires are good to go. I don't like paying for the tires, but I sure do like driving on 'em.

I am starting to get a little...mmmm...let's go with melancholy. not woebegone, but sad and thinking-of-old-times-ly.

it makes me think of graduating high school. or leaving college and oklahoma. because now, quite a few of the people that make the triangle area my home are moving. oh, not all of you. i'm lucky enough that I can't even name all of my friends here in one breath. but today marks the day when people really, really are going. and it makes me feel like I'm starting a new chapter, and like part of my family that I've made here is leaving.

and I will miss them.
terribly.

(ps, four of the ladies in these pics aren't moving, well, in addition to me--audrey, olivia, kara and misty)

at the same time? SO excited for them. excited for their new adventures and their new stories. excited that they're beginning the next phase. and TOTALLY excited to go visit. (plus, three of them are moving to states where I haven't any pictures... :D)

last night I watched Music & Lyrics. It's kinda cute and kinda funny, but maybe woulda been better in a theatre.

I am excited for the long weekend. Not sure what all I'll be doing, but I can pretty much guarantee two things--there will be pictures and there will be drinking. ha!

enjoy your memorial day weekend, dearies.

and i love what you do don't you know that you're toxic

~ms. britney spears

dude, my work softball team rules. i heart softball. HEART. we're now 2-0, and even if we lose every other game this season we're still gonna tie our record from last year. right now we're top o' the league.

and and and? i got TWO good hits. one of 'em good enough that the sh*t-talking pitcher (who i heart and who played on our team last year) said "good lord, girl, when'd you learn to hit?!?"

:D

ps? our team name is toxic waste. hence the lyrics. :)

afterwards we enjoyed beer and mexican food. mmmmm beer. mmmmmm-m-m-mexican! yay!

and then I did the unthinkable.
okay, well not quite yet.

so, I went home, changed into pants and drove to visit sampson, the wonderful kitty of the wonderful mary alise. i talked talked talked on the phone all the way there, while there and all the way back. and then, goodness gracious...

i chose to talk on the phone instead of watch the season finale of lost.

yes, really.

between the cleaning and the not watching LOST I really think I might need to have my head checked. I'm not sure what I think they'd find, but it all seems a bit weird to me.

riiiiiiiiiight.

anyhoodle, I'll watch it this weekend. not tonight. not tomorrow.

oh and. the bitchy mood and hormotionalism seems to have leveled out, thank the good lord in heaven. doing well in softball helped with that. and too, i felt pretty darn neato that people in five states commented or emailed me to say something about how icks it is when you're like this, or that they are a boy and don't get it but they're sorry to hear it.

thanks, y'all.

to end, one of my fave quotes from Sue Monk Kidd's The Secret Life of Bees "I realized it for the first time in my life: there is nothing but mystery in the world, how it hides behind the fabric of our poor, browbeat days, shining brightly, and we don't even know it."

and thanks, 'stina, for the idea of putting what book I'm reading on my blog.

anybody wanna help me visit states? (that's on the right now, too!)

ps-I wanna be a polymath. can I say I'm a polymath? if not, how does one become a polymath? what a damn cool word. polymath.

well hello mister fancy pants. you ain't but leadin' two things, jack and sh*t, and jack left town.

apparently that is my phrase of the week. I fully intend to say "mister fancypants" today if the opportunity presents itself. I've said "...jack and sh*t and jack left town" at least once a day for the past four days. and I now have an overwheming urge to watch evil dead, evil dead 2 and army of darkness. anybody wanna join in?

because today, I am hormotional. while all of my friends and friends' friends are thinking about getting/starting to try to get/are pregnant, I'm just trying to work on finding a pill that 1)helps with acne, 2)doesn't make me like this and 3)doesn't cost an arm an a leg.

I almost yelled at the man from atlantic tire today. for reals. granted they COMPLETELY disregarded what I had asked, but still. good news: kept my cool and saved myself $22.87 on my tires. saving money is good. i like that.

yesterday kara and I had an evening of relaxing fun: pedicures, wine and sushi. (congrats to her as well on buying/selling their house!) I need to do that more often. I can count on one hand the number of pedicures I've ever had, but I gotta say, they're a nice treat once in a while.

in less than a month I will be in t-town for nine glorious days. please let me know if you'd like to get together. other than wedding stuff, my three-state-picture-taking-excursion and something for anna, I'm free. we should par-tay, no?

okay, time to gear up for some softball. we are gonna kick some ass and take some names, methinks. :)
