i feel like a very bizarre country song...

because my fridge is broken and I am so tired and I got a ticket for running a stop sign. which, incidentally, is a)the first ticket I've gotten in eight years and b)is why I did not pass my driver's test the first time I took it.

also? I was in a neighborhood (not justifying, just saying there are WAY more important places to stake out) and the dude followed me for three blocks before turning on his lights. what?? anyway. I think the fact that I got a $171 ticket for not totally stopping is ridiculous. !!! I mean, a warning, fine, but it wasn't like I breezed right through it. I did stop moving forward. I started rocking back. Yes, I definitely did not fullyfullyfully stop, but seriously? crazytown and cows. especially because the part where I actually broke the law? that cost me $50. the remainder is for court costs. seriously?!? ugh.

yeah, I am soooooo a criminal. whatever.

Also, our fridge is not in good shape. Even our freezer isn't cold enough to keep meat from spoiling. I stopped at the store on my way home last night to get some ingredients for chicken tortilla soup and southwestern chicken skillet and came home and cooked them, only to decide that the chicken was actually not good. thank goodness I didn't put any chicken in the tortilla soup, so that's still good. but yeah. not fun. see that little fridge thermometer I bought? the picture is kind of blurry, but basically you want the needle to be further left on the circle in that little black area. that's for "food." the freezer should be well below that.

however, as jennifer said yesterday, at least there will be a "green lining" on this sitch--the fridge I have is--gasp!--not energy star rated. but it's better to use something you have than get new like 90% of the time, so we kept it. I will definitely be buying an energy star fridge, I can tell you that!

So, I saw this tuesday and it yet again alarmed me. Why, Sherman Williams, WHY? I was already bothered by your logo once--this is evidence that you have modernized it. couldn't you have made it green or yellow or anything other than red??? yeesh.

oh and class is kicking my ass. I think it is kicking everyone's ass. The homework was HORRENDOUS and then for this one he specifically writes "you may not work in groups of more than three people." WHAT? Oh my god, let it go man. Stop being a control freak and let us do our work, okay? Geez. I am very annoyed and I find that the homework problems are getting more and more unnecessarily difficult, and anyway. Ugh.

okay, time to go back to having my pity party. I have already cried twice today. I am stresssssssssed out and I need a day off. Or a week. Is it the end of the semester yet? Or holidays? Or anything? yeesh.

i was looking at sherwin williams website recently when i was looking for paint to paint our bathroom and on their page about their "green initiative" they had this:
Our historical logo is one of the most recognized company logos in existence. Created in the late 1800s, the logo's purpose was to represent the company's desire to help beautify and protect the buildings of the world. It was a symbol of a young company's enthusiasm, idealism and hope regarding its future and the possibility for achievement that hovered on the nation's horizon.

Very quickly, our "Cover the Earth" logo became a figurative emblem signifying quality, integrity and service — the very same things it stands for today.

so, you obviously aren't the first person to be alarmed by it!

Sounds like a bubble bath and a glass of wine is the perfect antidote to what ails you!! Hang in there, girl.

This too shall pass!

And speaking of paint, I recently saw an ad that Home Depot now carries a line of paint that is VOC-free, the only kind in the country. I don't know if you have a Home Depot in your area, but there you go. Apparently they are the exclusive carrier.

Did the refrigerator come with the house? You have not been living there long and many sales agreements require the seller to insure the home for a certain period of time after the sale. You might look into that.

He followed you for three blocks because he was running your plates, criminal! :p

Speaking of green initiatives...sure my truck isn't that green...but the bed-liner I had sprayed-on is VOC free. I'm such an environmentalist and I don't even know it!

It's also time for me to make like Carrie and make an offer on a townhouse. I'm now going back to read about your experiences...

So all I can think about is that we eat the same foods... I see Kashi pizza I think and an Amy's dinner in your Freezer. I'm sure it isn't vegan (although the Amy's dinner may be if you check the back)... but both are deliciously organic brands.

Also, while I'm sure it isn't - the box behind your thermometer looks like a Tofurky box. Doubtful you purchased one for your Thanksgiving, but it looks like it.

It's almost Thanksgiving! So, close.

Also, I myself was SUPER alarmed this summer when I saw a similar SW paint truck...I was at the stop light of the 44 access road and Riverside and stopped to take a picture with my phone. But no one else seemed as alarmed as I did, so I'm glad to hear that my reaction wasn't completely weird.
