my blog might get real boring the next few days.

as in I might not post at all. maybe. we'll see. but, um, I'm SWAMPED and really have no business even doing this one, but I wanted to share pictures.

however, I have VERY few. my powershot allegedly arrives tomorrow, so I'll be able to take pictures again! I took ZERO at our girl's night on Thursday, and ZERO the remainder of the weekend until this morning, and those I only took for blogging purposes.

this weekend:
went to our subdivision's party. VERY awkward at first. NO ONE spoke to us for like 8 minutes! finally our neighbor recognized matt (even though I've talked to her three times and he's only waved once) and chatted it up, and then some other people did too. we said hello to everyone when we came in, but still, nada. oh and--the planner of the event, Brooke? She totally goes to school with my ex-husband. He's a 5th year, she's a 4th year. it's a small world after all.

then after cleaning and going through the poooooouring rain, we went to the white's house for drunken jenga, picture arranging (I delivered kara's pictures!) and a wee bit of cigar smoking. I haven't had a cigar since...since...yeah, still not sure. maybe more than a year? at least 9 months. anyway, it was fun. but we stayed out tooooo late!

and that was our 4th o' july. no fireworks at all (we missed them because the people stopped as soon as it started raining) but that's okay. fireworks ALWAYS make me homesick. I'm sorry, but nary a display over land can out-do those of tulsa. nary.

saturday we slept in and then spent most of the day cleaning, unpacking, arranging, moving stuff from my old place, etc. we also went to morgan imports and learned that if at all possible we will never, ever go to the bruegger's on ninth street ever again--it took TWENTY minutes for him to make my better bacon cheddar and matt's sausage, egg and cheese. that's not including the time waiting in line. He tried to put a still-runny egg on my sandwich and anyway, messy. We got some fun stuff at morgan imports though--I'll take a picture of my necklace at some point!

in the evening we had dinner at CPK with our friends Luke and Julie. I finally got to try the pear and gorgonzola pizza because they got it--I'm not brave enough to risk trying it and hating it. Though now I remember they used to get you a new one if you didn't like it, don't know if they still do or not. And then we saw Wanted. It was a bit gory at the beginning but overall I liked it! There were some clever ideas, a good plot and Angelina Jolie did a good job in her supporting role but the other guy still was clearly the lead. I even liked the crazy physics!

And yesterday I did something big. For those of you who haven't been reading the blog for three years do bother to check out this--see? Now it looks like this. I had some trouble with the clear coat so we're still working on it, but it'll be fine soon enough. THANK GOODNESS Audrey suggested that I spray paint furniture instead of using regular paint--MUCH better.

I did that, I finished lining the shelves in the kitchen, unpacked about 5 kitchen/food boxes AND unpacked all of my china. Isn't it pretty? I'm quite proud, quite proud indeed. I need to polish that spoon but otherwise it just looks lovely and makes me very happy. I'm glad to have it out! Finally!

I was also QUITE pleased that my big blue vase (top center) that my granny gave me did not break--when I was unwrapping it I could tell it was all still in one piece and I was so worried I was going to just drop it or something! But I didn't. Yay!

Between the two of us (and at the end of last week) Matt and/or I painted the powder room, put up organizers in the pantry (matt), replaced some toilet paper holders that were broken, assembled one of our sets of outdoor furniture and all sorts of other good stuff. Oh AND we now have the internet. And we're totally going to have to get cable. We get like three channels. We'll do that after the trip.

And now I am at work. And crazy busy. And I need a nap. And my jaw hurts. And I need to get ready for my Tulsa trip. And eek. I suppose I should get back to the grindstone now, hmm?

PS:
1. when I looked up "wanted" in google images I found this. It is kind of funny! For crimes against humanity and the planet. No shit. I don't care whether you're for or against him as president, you cannot deny that some of his decisions have directly impacted the environment in a negative fashion. I mean, unless you don't have all the facts. I guess then you could. Anyway...

2. where would you get a ladder that doesn't cost a bazillion dollars? We're finding ones that are like $125 at Lowes and we don't want to spend that! I'm going to look at Big Lots tonight, actually. We need an 8 ft ladder. We also don't know if we'll need the ladder *after* we paint. We shall see.

3. We leave for Oklahoma on Saturday!!! If any of y'all want to try to get together while Matt and I are in town let me know! My time is limited but we'll figure it out, I'm sure. :)
