aaand roadtrip-day 8
ah, the day o' the wedding!!! it began with a deeeelish breakfast of pancakes and cinnamon toast with the ladies. oh, and pore strips for all. :)
then were showers and hair and the rest of the getting ready at the church. jessica and I got there to meet the lady (darla?) and hung out with renee's aunt annette while we finished our hair and makeup. ellie and rachel joined us and then sarah, leanne, janet and renee. oh and the flowergirl, anna. we had lots of fun getting dressed and ready. and sarah and I had our intimate moment where we changed in the bathroom together for time's sake. and mike had someone deliver red roses to renee, it was really sweet!
pictures were taken, hair was sprayed, bouquets were held, you know the drill. and renee looked simply stunning. such a lovely bride and a beautiful dress!
and then it was time. matt took some pictures during the ceremony...
and then it was time for the reception. folk dancing, delicious cake, a craft for the scrapbook, good stuff! it was HOT in there (we were right by the thermostat and watched the temperature climb as the night wore on--we kept setting it lower--it was set for 76, guess the ballroom folk forgot to lower it in anticipation of the crowd!) but people partied and danced and played games. I think it was just what Renee had in mind. :) The centerpieces were just great (old green glass) and we even got to take them home! And Sarah, Jessica and I had an awful lot of fun with the guest book craft. I saw quite a few people I hadn't seen in a LONG time--camp friends, ladies from church, renee's family, and all sorts of people. It was wonderful to see everyone! AND I got to watch Phillip break it down--he is one hilarious dude. matt took A LOT of these photos, I was a busy girl at the ceremony!
after helping clean up we went back to the hotel to matthew and peyton's room. they're the two guys in the picture above. matt and I talked to them almost the whole night! there was an ongoing joke about us switching matts (matthew likes to cuddle, peyton does not) and we really enjoyed their company. there was a whole group of us who ate pizza, drank beer and hung out, telling stories, laughing and everything! the only things missing were renee and mike, who clearly had other things to attend to. :)
sarah and leanne kept telling us things--they are TOO funny. and they (and jessica too) shared stories about little kids. sarah also told us how one time she and scott sent two text messages to someone (scott's brother, maybe?)--one said "what are you wearing?" the other said "we're looking for you." PS--they were using their NEW cell phone numbers, and the person getting the messages had NO IDEA who was texting him. creepy and funny methinks. and we talked a lot about angry scott--that was the ongoing joke, that scott was always angry. but he is probably the most easy-going person I've ever met in my life!
we were pleased to get through the night without upsetting anyone (the night before we found out the room next door had a little baby. we felt bad but also? why did the hotel put a baby near the block of wedding party guests? and it was only around 9. still, we shushed. on saturday I went to the front desk to verify there were no children on either side of the room we hung out in!) we finally went to sleep at oh-late-thirty, and yet again the boys stayed up late. poor scott. poor poor scott. but that is part of day 9's story!
