maybe i *am* the bionic woman.
my friend patty thinks I might be the bionic woman. sometimes? sometimes I think she might be right. :)
I am still tired from this weekend. I am trying to sleep more but I'm not doing an awesome job--changing your schedule ain't so easy. especially when you're already stressed out.
so, this weekend. LOTS of church. LOTS of time doing the dinner theatre. some high/low-lights...
-friday night I went to pick up food for dinner--little caesar's pizza and some veggies (I insisted on a semi-balanced meal)--and while I'm waiting to pick up my NINE pizzas that I'd called in an hour before, one lady loudly says "damn, she walked in two minutes ago and is already getting her pizza??!?" and this eight year old boy in front of me says "they say HOT and READY. Then they said it would be eight minutes. It's been twwwweeeeennnnnnttttyyyyy" in the way that only an over-privileged mother could've taught him. Good gracious I wanted to give him a lecture!
-I now have a "favorite." And I'm "really fun." And I got an award. And (surprise, surprise) I follow the rules. :) I also felt like my duties increased every moment--I went from doing almost nothing to cuing the youth to giving away a door prize to giving away six door prizes and two awards! It was kind of nice to FINALLY get to play a part.
-I taught some adults about urbandictionary.com and the meanings of "spiderman" and "superman." I've a feeling some people's kids are going to really dislike me when they're older.
-I realized that in some ways, this was all worth it. And I also know that if I'm going to keep doing youth stuff, I HAVE to be more than a warm body. I mean, I'm TOTALLY glad I helped with the dinner theatre, but I know that in this capacity, with this time commitment, and in a leadership role, I'm not up for being a bystander. That's the clincher.
-I got to know a lot of the youth better. This was really good. I also learned that I'm the most approachable of the leaders--not that I wanted that title or the info associated with it, but I'm glad there's someone they can talk to openly, in any case. It will be interesting to see where this road goes...
other things between then and now:
-my project director suuuuuucks. seriously. I am not a child. ugh.
-I found out I was mistaken. Apparently the Our State thing is one big two-page photo o' mine. honestly? I think a photo of mine taking up two pages is cooler than multiple photos on two pages. If you beg to differ, please agree to disagree. :)
-Monday was Badge Day. The TAP event was a success, I learned that there are at least sixteen lights between me and Bogarts (and all but three were red) and I enjoyed hanging out with fellow over-achievers.
-I found out about the Our State photo contest--I'll need your help/input soon, please!
-Matt and I watched The BreakUp and tried a new recipe--an orange chicken stir fry thingie from campbells that I'll link to tomorrow. It was yummy and easy to make, but next time I'll make more rice, marinate the chicken, add a bit of cayenne and maybe some canned pineapple chunks, too.
-my throat hurts. this is no good.
-and--to toot my own horn...since the beginning of Lent I've received exactly two bags--one paper one from express that I got on purpose since the hard bottom would lessen the wrinkling, and a second small plastic bag from origins so that the body was I bought couldn't leak on my clothes from express. I'm particularly thrilled because I've also earned like a dollar from Lowe's from bringing my own bags. :) yay, me!
okay, bedtime.
