i may not be a shining star...
yesterday I got to sing second soprano again. I like singing second. but I *don't* like how people made a big fuss about it and embarrassed me and told me I was being demoted and whatever else. Joe needed me to sing second. Because I can, and because it was extra low. He has me as a soprano because I can sing it, and because we needed more people up high.
grow up, folks.
we're singing a song that makes me laugh--I mean, it's kinda cool, but honestly it sounds like a thirteen year old wrote it. one phrase "you can even talk about me, but I am still his child." Like "don't tease me, or mislead me?"
also, that song "come christians join to sing"--well, there's a version of that we're doing, and I realize that in my, oh, twenty years of regular church-going I have ignored the phrase right before the last "alleluia, amen" in each verse. which if you know the song, should make sense. anyway, I had to get out a hymnal, go to the title/first line list, find the page and make sure those were the words. for the first AND second verse. by the third I decided to just let it go. my fellow sopranos got a kick out of that one, yessiree.
and on my way home, my brain suddenly went "oh! that's how it's done." I'll post the answer tomorrow. It's still neat though.
1. Key in the first three digits of your phone number (NOT the Area code...)
2. Multiply by 80
3. Add 1
4. Multiply by 250
5. Add to this the last 4 digits of your phone number
6. Add to this the last 4 digits of your phone number again.
7. Subtract 250
8. Divide number by 2
what do you get?
also, remember how a while ago I was mulling over money and what to do, WHAT to DO?!? well, today someone got on my case a teensy bit because I'd only said I was mulling, not acting. but guess what? a) nunya. b) I choose to share, though. c) I took a teensy baby step. I signed nothing. I agreed to nothing. But I did find out that yes, they'll give me a loan, and yes, it will cover what I want! yay!
It will hurt like the dickens to pay for it, though, but I think that'll be okay in the long run. I may also (gasp!) look more where property taxes are lower--aka out of wake county. we'll see. but step one=accomplished. I am still in the "research" phase.
and I have also considered selling my car for a cheaper slightly older model. think: honda/toyota from 02 instead of madza3 with leather and expensive tires from 05. I don't want to sacrifice reliability, and I do have the option of paying off the car instead of buying the house and then saving that money each month, but really? might be better off with the house since in theory it will eventually go up in value instead of down. right? am I missing something? (recent housing issues notwithstanding)
anyway: progress made. budgeting in process. we shall see.

Hooray for moving the decimal point :)
Seriously, the housing issues should be motivation to buy. I am not as familiar with your area but I know in denver prices are as low as I've ever seen them, meaning they WILL go back up, at some point. And cars never appreciate in value. Unless they're classics, which a mazda3 is not!
