and I have to speculate that God himself did make us

into corresponding shapes like puzzle pieces from the clay~iron and wine. or postal service. take your pic.

So, last night I went to this neat-but-in-the-ghetto place in Raleigh called Humble Pie. They had a great Shiraz (Richard Hamilton 2002 SGM, Colton's RP 88) as one of the wines we tasted. Yummy stuff.

Over the course of the wine tasting one of my fellow alumnae and I started talking. And it got me to think about the strange things that happen. How everything interconnects, and how the bigger picture becomes clear. Now, I'm not saying that every single thing happens for a reason. Maybe not the days where everything goes wrong (you drive off with you coffee still on your car, you stub your toe, drop all your papers, run a red light, burn the rice at dinner and then set your alarm for PM instead of AM), and maybe not the incredible ones either. But there seems, sometimes, to be a plan for all of the events that shape you as a person, as a human being.

and it's frickin' weird.

I was telling here about how I ended up here, in NC, working at my job and dating Otto and being President of the alumnae association. And it's crazy stuff! It's not that I haven't made decisions, but more that the side things are what brought me here. (came to NC because I was married, found the job at kruger because I worked at the gap, found the job because of who I worked with at the icky K place, became friends with audrey because i worked at michael's. i'd never have done that if we hadn't decided sort-of last minute to move to north carolina. i never would have been a kappa delta if i hadn't ended up going to the one school i didn't want to attend. this silly list goes on and on, and it baffles my mind.)

but it does all fit together like a puzzle. a weird, convoluted, involved and sometimes unintelligible puzzle, methinks. one that isn't square, and doesn't have a border. and someday i hope it looks very cool all modge-podged and hanging up on a wall.
